Where to Find Texas’ Best BBQ in Arlington

Barbecue? BBQ?
No matter how you spell it, the aroma and taste of anything smoked, rubbed and slathered in sweet and spicy sauce makes our mouths water—and nobody does barbecue better than Texas.
And when your travels take you to Arlington, or one of the nearby Dallas tourist attractions, you better come hungry (and with plenty of moist towelettes). From ribs to hot links and fried okra to banana pudding, here are the four Arlington restaurants that do Texas BBQ right.

Jambo’s Barbeque Shack 2502 Little Road
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or until sold out)

[Source: Jambo’s Barbeque Shack Facebook]

At Jambo’s, you get the homey feel you expect from a Texas business claiming to offer true Southern hospitality. You also get generous portions and well-seasoned meats. The brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, as are the ribs that you can so effortlessly pull off the bone. But, what this barbecue joint is really known for is the Jambo Texan—a sandwich containing every piece of meat on the menu (brisket, bologna, pulled pork, sausage and ribs) piled sky high between pieces of Texas Toast. The Sadie and bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos are other customer favorites, and make sure you save some room for homemade apple cobbler, or at least get it to go. If this location doesn’t work, there are two more in the area, another in Arlington and one in Rendon.

Cokers Bar-B-Q 2612 West Pioneer Parkway
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

[Source: Cokers Barbecue Facebook]

Cokers is one local’s pick that doesn’t disappoint. For more than 17 years, it’s been serving finger-lickin’ goodness amidst all of its really cool and old Coca-Cola memorabilia. They slow smoke their brisket and ribs until they’re lusciously tender. For an extra kick, try their hot links or add their barbecue sauce with the pepper sauce to your meats, and dip your side of fried okra in it too! The pulled pork with Carolina sauce and stuffed baked potato are sure to leave you satisfied.

Eddie Deen Crossroads Smokehouse 1004 N. Collins St.
Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until sold out

[Source: Eddie Deen CrossRoads Facebook]

Eddie Deen’s offers lip-smackin’ good food for a great price, not to mention really down to earth service. There are so many good items on their menu, it’s hard to choose. But foods that always please the palate are the ribs with their honey-glazed finish, braised brisket tacos, collard greens, the spicy barracho beans and a slice of chocolate fudge pecan pie. Perhaps something small this smokehouse has done that is greatly appreciated by its customers is setting up a nice area inside the restaurant where you can help yourself to as many onions, peppers, pickles and the usual condiments you want.

Bodacious Bar-B-Q 1206 E. Division St.
Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 [Source: Bodacious Bar-B-Q Facebook]

This family-owned, cafeteria-style service barbecue joint is the perfect fill-your-belly kind of place to go after seeing a Rangers or Cowboys game. At Bodacious Bar-B-Q, the sausage links are juicy and delicious, the brisket is full of flavor and the ribs are so good you don’t even need barbecue sauce—although their house-made Bodacious BBQ sauce has just the right amount of spice to it. Top your meal off with some tasty banana pudding or a fried pie.

Five of the best casinos in Las Vegas

Making a top of the best casinos in Las Vegas is not that easy. Of course it mostly depends on your criteria, maybe you are looking for great shows, amazing restaurants, stunning hotel rooms or maybe you prize location the most. If you are not in the mood of spending a fortune on this trip you should look at casinos just off the Las Vegas Strip and try to balance your demands so that they should fit within reasonable budget.
Here is some good value for money hotels and casinos in sin city:

1. Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino
Spacey rooms and an amazing restaurant called VooDoo where you get delicious food and stunning views of the city. If you want to get on the strip Rio provides a regular free shuttle service.

2. El Cortez Hotel & Casino
Refurbished recently El Cortez is now a very good deal. It has a retro vibe so you might get a classic Vegas experience by choosing this historic hotel. It is probably the first major casino in Las Vegas as it was built in 1941. It still keeps the original ranch style architecture.

3. Golden Gate Casino Hotel
This is even more vintage than El Cortez, it was built in 1906 and features retro decorations all over the place. Golden Gate lacks the glamour of the new and shiny resorts but you might see this as an upside since the casino is quite small and friendly.

4. Main Street Station Casino, Brewery and Hotel
The name says it all, Main Street Station is great if you want to taste amazing beer and great dishes in its restaurants. The rooms on the upper floors offer great views and are also surprisingly quiet, that's not so common in Vegas.

5. The D Las Vegas
Situated on the Fremont Street Experience, The D is right where the party starts. A huge hotel with more than 600 rooms it was just renovated in 2012 so it has a very modern vibe with flat-screen TV's and led lights all over the place. Oh yeah, and if you want to gamble you can surely gamble here, there are two floors packed with gambling action.

A final advice, before your trip go online from time to time and choose an online casino such as MansionCasino.com. Here you can play in practice mode for free and get in the vibe before you buy your tickets to Las Vegas. This is also a good way of experimenting with casino games. You can click here to play online blackjack for example and quickly learn the rules and tricks. Also if you just want to gamble from your own living room without the hassle you might as well have a go.

Making Your Stay at the Garment District Special

Located in the busy hub of Midtown Manhattan,The Garment District is often hailed as the “fashion district” of the city. The area is home to a number of major fashion labels, stores, designers, warehouses, and showrooms, and if you are searching for the best options in fashion, this neighborhood caters to all your garment needs, from the design to the production of your dress.

In the 18th Century, local textile companies here manufactured clothes specifically designed for plantation slaves, and the industry has been flourishing since. Towards the later part of the 19th century, these companies took to making casual  attire business and produced garments for the entire nation. Entering the 20th Century, New York had already made its mark in the industry, establishing the hottest fashion trends across the globe..

Now, the Garment District is not just a manufacturing hub; rather, it is popular as a business and creative centre for the fashion world. Wholesale bargaining and design selections are commonly seen in this neighborhood, and renowned designers such as Donna Karan, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Oscar De la Renta, and a number of other notable names  have a presence with nearly 1,000 leading outlets and distributors having offices in the garment district .

For fashionistas, a stay at the Garment District is no less than a dream come true, and why wouldn’t it be? You get to shop for the best clothes and fill up your bags with the best of the worlds fashion! Let’s take a look at what else you’ll get to experience at the Garment District, making for a trip you won’t forget anytime soon.

Grand Fashion Events

The phenomenon of ‘fashion week’ first originated in New York City, the veritable center of everything hot and happening. During World War II, the first ever fashion week event was organized here, an exhibition of the works of leading fashion designers at that time. At present, the city’s leading fashion week is the “Mercedes Benz Fashion Week”. A tradition that started half a century ago stays strong, with two fashion events being held here annually. The first is held with the turn of the season in Winter showcasing fall-winter collections. The second event is held in the autumn season, which displays the collections of spring-summer.

Excellent Quality Fabrics

In the Garment District, as the name suggests, fabric is the main attraction. The options available on display at the nigh countless shops here can make even the most seasoned of fashionistas dizzy. The fabrics come from all around the world – ribbons, laces, buttons, and other beautiful and elegant embellishments all available in unique varieties – and you will feel as though you have hit upon a fashion treasure trove! Fabrics here are available in different colors, materials, shapes, coming in a range of different prices to match the budget of most tourists.

Dining Options

The cafes, restaurants, and pubs here will satisfy your dietary cravings. In the middle of your shopping spree, you can sit down to relax for some time and rejuvenate yourself with some tasty juices from the cafes. While walking down the streets, you will come across an assortment of different restaurants, each with a diverse variety of ethnic and international cuisines.

Time your trip to New York to see tennis greats

New York is a city that is great to visit at any time of year. There are landmarks galore to visit, and whenever you go, you’ll never have enough time in one trip to see all the things that you wanted to.
But one great event not to be missed is the tennis US Open, which takes place in Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York every August.

The tournament is one of the four big international tennis events in the calendar year – and sits alongside the Australian Open in January, Roland Garros  (the French Open) in Paris in May and Wimbledon in the UK in June and early July.

This year there are some familiar names in the running for winner of the Men’s Singles at the US Open. If you check out different odds at sites like Paddy Power, you’ll see that Novak Djokovic is the favourite to win, followed by Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and Roger Federer. No matter which player you want to win, it’s definitely an experience to go to the US Open in person.
It’s the very opposite of Wimbledon in so many ways – which can feel a little formal and stuffy in its traditions.

At Flushing Meadows the dress code is definitely casual and the atmosphere is relaxed. Tickets are easier to come by too – in fact many British tennis fans have cottoned on to the fact that you can get the cost of the trip to New York and the seats at Flushing Meadows for a similar price that you could only get seats at Wimbledon for Centre Court or Court Number One.

The same players play at every international Grand Slam; why not enjoy an almost free trip to the Big Apple at the same time as you’re getting your live tennis fix?

Amazing Ski Destinations around the Globe

There’s no better way to celebrate the winter months than to go on a ski or snowboard holiday. The summer makes us want to visit warmer climes for sunshine and sand, but the winter inspires many of us to head to mountains where there is a generous sprinkling of snow. In terms of the experience and excitement, skiing on a real peak far surpasses the artificial slopes that are found in England. It’s not only the quality of the white stuff - it’s also about the atmosphere and scenery; for that you simply cannot beat a mountain resort.

So if you are thinking about packing your winter woolies and heading to a good resort this winter, where should you go? Here are some amazing ski destinations around the globe that you should consider:

Swiss Alps

It’s easy to reach Switzerland as there are numerous airlines that fly into Zurich airport; even a budget one! It’s also possible to fly to Milan and make the drive to one of the resorts. One such Switzerland ski resort that is growing in popularity can be found near the small town ofAndermatt, around 90 minutes from the airport in Zurich. What makes this place so ideal is the combination of guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, and of course the ski runs. Nätschen is perfect for those just starting out, as well as intermediates, whereas Gemsstock (2,963m) is sure to appeal to the more seasoned pros. Go between December and February for the best snow coverage.

Ideal for: All abilities

Canadian Rockies

The Rocky Mountains are another overseas destination that you might want to consider; the flight time will of course be longer but you would surely have a wonderful experience. One place to go to is Sunshine Village which is only a 15 minute drive from gorgeous Banff in Canada. From the car park you’d get on a high speed gondola which transports you to the upper village. Here there are ten chairlifts which provide access to 107 trails in the valley. These trails take place over three mountains: Goat’s Eye, Lookout and Mount Standish. Go between December and April to make the most of the powder.

Ideal for: All abilities

French Pyrenees

It’s also possible to ski in the French Pyrenees which are commonly looked over in the place of more popular resort areas. Yet the Pyrenees offer something a little bit different for tourists who don’t want to be surrounded by high levels of tourism and expensive costs. They’re usually more affordable, and the hospitality of the locals is renowned; you’d be eating hearty stews and drinking bottles of house French wine poured from a carafe. The main hurdle is the accessibility; some transfers might not be able to make it through the snow to take you to your resort! If you’re up for an adventure, it’s likely that you could persuade a friendly local to bring you the rest of the way... just be prepared for a more natural experience and not the ease of the Alps.

Ideal for: Beginners and intermediates

The Mojave aircraft graveyard

Located in California, on the Mojave Desert, the Mojave aircraft graveyard is officially called The Mojave Air and Space Port.
The location is of course a general purpose airport but it serves also as a good place for flight testing and aircraft storage.
The storage part is the most impressing, because the desert is dry and covers a large area, a huge number of planes are stored here.
Numerous large Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed, and Airbus aircraft owned by major airlines are stored at Mojave. Other than large commercial planes, the military also uses the airport for storage so you can also see some war legends.
This is a spectacular place, way more interesting than a special designated aviation museum. Eventually the planes that reach end of flight are scrapped at Mojave but some are used for parts or are refurbished and get to fly again.
And a quick tip for those interested to come to the US: getting a visa is not easy even if you are based in some parts of Europe, luckily there are some good options to get a 'ESTA USA' online.

Ski in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Someone mentioned after I published my article about tourist attractions in New Mexico that I should talk a little about skiing in New Mexico and especially in Santa Fe.
If you like top services for hotels & condos in America you can find luxury ski deals online with Supertravel.co.uk, but if you are looking for budget accommodation Santa Fe is a great place to visit.
Ski Santa Fe is located just north of the city and has a big range of slopes so both beginners and ski experts can have a good time. Those who like the extreme can experience Big Tesuque, this is a spectacular out-of-bounds trail.
The ski infrastructure is quite impressive; the locals say that lift lines are very rare considering the seven lifts can carry up to 10000 skiers per hour.
Keep in mind that there are no lodges at the ski area, but there are some nice cafés and food courts where tourist can relax and get something to eat.
The ski resort is also family-friendly, the Chipmunk corner is a fun and safe place where parents can take their kids to learn the sport. A varied selection of training packages is also available for tourists of all ages and this makes the resort very beginner friendly.
If you are in the area for more than a couple of days try to keep some time in order to explore the town of Santa Fe. This is a wonderful middle sized town with some of the oldest most beautiful buildings in America. The town centre is easy to explore on foot and has a lot to offer, it's great for shopping and the restaurants are usually very good.

Kauai tourist attractions, Hawaii

Kauai is indeed a typical Hawaiian island. Often called the Garden Island, Kauai is covered by luxuriant tropical vegetation watered by heavy rainfall.
Being the oldest island in the archipelago, it also has a lengthy coastline of amazing sandy beaches with some amazing Hawaii beach homes.
The top tourist attractions of Kauai are the natural parks and the coastal region with spectacular cliffs and secluded beaches. Some of the best are:

Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific is a quite a view. Great for hikers and campers, it resembles it's counterpart in Arizona but has more vegetation.

Na Pali Coast, on the western part of Kauai, is the iconic view of the island. Here, stunning high mountain cliffs reach the ocean. Given the steepness of the cliffs, tourist can reach the beaches and caves only by sea. Experienced hikers with the proper equipment can also hike around the coast.

Tourist attractions in New Mexico

New Mexico is one of the mountain states of the United States. This makes the area really worth visiting for hiking and trekking lovers. There are a lot of canyons and unspoiled areas where the Western atmosphere is present.

Some of the best tourist attractions in the state of New Mexico are:
1. The Carlsbad Caverns National Park. This is a really nice place to go hiking and visit the spectacular caverns. The park is an UNESCO World Heritage site and has more than 117 caves with 3 of them open to the public and ready for you to explore.

Bodie California, a ghost town

The ghost town of Bodie is a state historic park in California. This is an old mining town which boomed around 1876 when a big deposit of gold was discovered in the region.
At his peak, Bodie was a fully developed town with 65 saloons, an entertainment centre, a Chinatown and Red light district.
The decline arrived in 1880 when new opportunities  in other mining town such as Butte, Montana lured the men away. The single men that just wanted to get rich quick moved on and Bodie became a family-oriented community.
The town kept going as a quiet community until 1912 when the last paper was printed and the Mine was closed. Bodie was first labelled a ghost town in 1915.
Since 1940 caretakers were hired to maintain and protect the town from degrading. With 110 structures still standing Bodie is now a State Historic Park in California and has around 200.000 visitors every year.

Teotihuacan - the first western metropolis

The ruins of Teotihuacan are situated north-west of Ciudad de Mexico over a large green plain.
This old metropolis lasted longer than Imperial Rome and was the biggest city of the Americas for about 700 years. While Europe was though the Dark Ages the Teotihuacan culture shined in Central America.
Researchers don't know much about the people that built this great city, it is presumed that it was abandoned a few centuries after reaching it's peak because of an epidemic or overpopulation.
Mighty palaces and temples were preserved with great mural paintings and statues. The rulers of the metropolis excelled in architecture and astronomy and had a complex religious system.
Many of the building from the Avenue of the Dead, a star aligned road,  are now reconstructed and some of them even have the original colorful facade.
In the southern part of the avenue La Citadela is situated, the old administrative center of Teotihuacan and royal court for many unknown kings.
Great examples of Teotihuacan architecture are also the two pyramids: the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. The Pyramid of the Sun is one of the biggest in the world, can be easily climbed and has a vast number of tunnels underneath. The pyramid also had a housing function, in the eastern side there are many restored apartments well worth the visit.
